The Wood Brewery

Wood's started brewing by converting the disused stable block next door to the Plough Inn. In the illustration below it's the section with the single door and three windows.

As their beers have sold more, they've kept expanding the brewery. First they built a small extension to the left of the original.

That is now their hop and grain store, from where they winch their dry materials up to the mash tun.

The building that carries the Wood's sign was added in 1992 to provide them with extra brewing capacity. They pretty well doubled that space in 2003 with the extension on the right. This gives them somewhere to store bottled beers to meet that growing trade. It also gives them some extra office space.

As this is being written, they're extending again, coming out at the front of the two most recent extensions, and adding a bit on the back.

A recent addition is the Brewery shop where you can buy bottled beers, brewery memorabilia and even order polypins or firkins of their beers - if you are fetching beers outside of normal brewery hours, we are happy to look after your purchases so you can pick them up from the Plough.
