Food @ the Plough InnYou'll find the Plough Inn a traditional country pub and we try to serve meals to match the venue. You won't find a pretentious menu just home cooked food using local produce (including the beer !).
Above the main bar you'll find a board displaying the farms from which this week's meat is supplied and it is all local. We have a fixed menu with starters, a specials board and a lunchtimes board. The fixed menu includes the usuals (fish and chips made with our own Woods Beer batter, extra-mature Shropshire Sirloin Steaks, Gammon Steaks, Scampi etc.) and a kids menu. The Specials board changes regularly and you'll find our home made curries (The Fish Molee - a fish curry cooked in coconut milk and tumeric is a favourite as is the spicy Lamb & Spinach), our "Farmhouse Pie" (made with local pork, bacon and cheeses - soon to be added to our fixed menu due to its popularity). On the lunchtimes menu you'll find filled baguettes, omelettes and local faggots ! All of our desserts are home made. As well as buying locally, we try to buy ethically so if you have an egg with your Gammon, or an omelette, you can be sure that the eggs are free-range, fresh and local (Lydbury). If you have a chicken dish, it will be free-range. On Sundays, as well as the usual menus we also serve a traditional roast (always beef with home made Yorkshire puddings, and usually Pork or free-range Chicken). All of our meats are supplied and sourced locally; why get your meat from Scotland or overseas when it is so good from Shropshire?
